Care Guide
CARE GUIDE
Enjoy your Lagos! ♥
To keep your Lagos in good condition store them in the Silvia Lago dust bag provided to you and keep them away from light and heat. Protect them from rain and moisture and avoid contact with abrasive surfaces, alcohol or any type of solvent. Never wash the leather, if you wet or wash the whole shoe with soap, the skin hardens and the shoe gets deformed and becomes useless. Below are some specific guidelines on how to clean each type of leather.
Suede Leather
Suede is a very absorbent material and therefore marks easily. Use a good quality suede brush to remove loose dirt and then apply a waterproof spray for suede. It should be sprayed periodically, that does not mean that it no longer absorbs water but resists more.
Nappa Leather
Nappa is a very soft material and shoes made from it will stretch with time and so we recommend allowance is made for this when selecting your size. Use a clean and soft, slightly damp cloth. Clean softly all over the shoe without 'scrubbing'. We recommend applying periodically a leather nourishing cream.
Patent Leather
Patent leather is made from real leather finished with a mixture of acrylic and polyurethane which gives a longer lasting, durable finish. Dirt adhering to patent can be easily removed with a damp cloth, no cream is necessary. With wear, patent leather may eventually lose its glossy finish. Patent will easily absorb ink or pigments so we advise that products are kept in their dust bag when not in use and avoid contact with dark or heavily printed materials. Care should be taken to avoid contact with alcohol or any type of solvent.
Glitter Suede
The glitter finish may be removed with wear and abrasion. This is not a fault and the glitter finish cannot be re-applied. We advise against treating with any liquids containing alcohol as this will damage the finish. Clean the product by gently wiping with a soft damp cloth and drying immediately. Do not use any cleaning products.
Metallic Leather
The metallic leather finish to this material may develop wrinkles with constant flexing; this is considered the natural wear of the product and not a fault. Should the leather become wrinkled or scratched, there is no way to restore it. While treating the leather with any alcohol based liquids will damage the metallic finish, Mirror leather can be cleaned by gently wiping it with a soft damp cloth and dried immediately. Products made of mirror leather should be stored away from direct sources of humidity and heat.
Printed Pony
Printed pony is made from calf hair that has been bleached and then printed. This is a delicate material and should areas become bald it is impossible to reverse the damage. Loose dirt can be removed with a lightly damp cloth and left to dry naturally.
Glitter
This delicate fabric can be damaged by friction, such as a full length dress on a shoe. With wear, the fabric will lose a small amount of glitter and as this is the nature of the fabric, it is not considered to be a fault. If an area of the product becomes bald, the glitter cannot be reapplied. We therefore recommend glitter fabric merchandise is handled with utmost care. Do not treat with any liquids containing alcohol as this will cause permanent damage.
The Leather Sole
The lacquer of the soles wears out with the use of the shoes. This is not a manufacturing defect of the shoes; it is a usual wear and tear. If you’re walking in the rain or wet floor for a long time, the color covering the leather sole can peel off as leather is porous and absorbs water. But this only happens in extreme cases. Let it dry thoroughly, clean up the area and apply a shoe cream on it.
